Spatial and Temporal Analysis of Dry and Wet Spells in the Wadi Cheliff Basin, Algeria

چکیده

The Mediterranean Basin, located in a transition zone between the temperate and rainy climate of central Europe arid North Africa, is considered major hotspot change, subject to water scarcity drought. In this work, dry wet spells have been analyzed Wadi Cheliff basin (Algeria) by means annual precipitation observed at 150 rain gauges period 1970–2018. particular, characteristics (frequency, duration, severity, intensity) evaluated run theory applied 12-month standardized index (SPI) values. Moreover, order detect possible tendencies SPI values, trend analysis has performed two non-parametric tests, Theil–Sen Mann–Kendall test. results indicated similar values frequency, intensity spells, although events showed higher extreme. evidenced different behavior northern side basin, characterized negative southern side, which positive trends were detected.
